Grindstone 100 Miler Prep - Week 2 Recap
This week was more of the same with a few more miles and vertical gain. I added in some weighted hiking via our 8 month old daughter.
Monday I did a 3 mile walk in the morning with my 8 month old daughter strapped to me. That afternoon was an easy/recovery 3 mile run on the treadmill.
Tuesday we did another 3 mile walk with my 8 month old daughter strapped to me. Mid-day I did a lifting session focused on upper-body with some band work/mobility added in between set. That afternoon was an easy-moderate 10 Mile run.
Wednesday we did 1.6 mile walk, again with my 8 month old daughter strapped to me. That afternoon we did 1K repeats at a 5:45 pace with 2mins of rest between reps. Trying to keep my top end speed in shape throughout this build.
Thursday was another 3 mile walk with my 8 month old daughter strapped to me. That afternoon we did a ME lifting session and then a 8 mile easy-moderate run.
Friday we did an easy/recovery 6 mile run.
Saturday was an 11 mile easy run.
Sunday was a long run (25.4 miles) at Hanging Rock state park and we did over 6,000 fr of vert. During my long run I’m working on fueling and getting in around 100gr of carbs an hour. Additionally, I’m really working on getting more efficient with trekking poles and using them to propel self up the mountain to help save my legs.
Overall it was a good week of training. We did over 11,000ft of vert and 90 total miles including the walking.
15 weeks out!
