Injury Persist - Grindstone 100 Miler Prep - Week 7
I did what I hardly ever do. I went to the doctor to have my foot checked out. I hadn’t run for 9 days, and the injury (although better) was still not where I wanted or thought it would be at this point with not running on it. I did a 5-mile run/walk on the treadmill and it was a little sore after, so I wanted to make sure I was dealing with just a tendon overuse issue and not something more serious.
They did X-rays and didn’t find anything which was a relief, but they did recommend I wear a boot for a week to immobilize my foot to help it heal. I did, mostly, but still cycled to maintain my fitness. My foot is now feeling better but is still not 100% and that’s where we are at currently.
They did recommend PT and I’m hoping to go after I come out of the boot and begin running again. For now, we will continue with the cycling and keep our fingers crossed that it translates to running fitness as this injury has now sidelined me for 5 weeks.
Here is my training for week 8.
Monday - 21.15 miles cycling.
Tuesday - 5.52 miles run/walk.
Wednesday - Rest day.
Thursday - 20.25 miles cycling.
Friday - 20.18 miles cycling.
Saturday - 50.16 miles cycling.
Sunday - Rest day.
Here is to staying consistent even if it doesn’t look like how I want it to.
